An antique 9k gold oval mourning brooch surrounded with pearl. This piece is typical of hair jewellery which reached its peak of popularity in the mid 1800’s during the Victorian era.
The brooch features braided hair under a bevelled glass surrounded by pearls and set in 9k yellow gold.
These sentimental pieces of jewellery were often worn as a a token of affection for a living loved one as well as remembrance and mourning jewellery. The brooch is secured by a base metal pin and C clasp.
This brooch is in very good, original and ready to wear condition, with all of it original pearls intact.
