A very rare and unique gold locket signet ring set with a white stone, circa 1862.
This antique 10k gold ring has etched floral detail on the shoulders, front and back.
This solid gold ring with white agate shield shaped seal (10mm x8mm) has fine hand engraved decoration to the shaped shoulders.
This ring has a period remembrance engraving on the inside of the shank. The inscription on the inside of the ring reads “C. A Grofs. Emma Davis Died September 6th 1862”.
The ring is in very good condition considering its age of 150 plus years.
As is typical of jewellery of this vintage, the ring is not hallmarked but tests as 12k – 14k gold.
The door of the locket mechanism works perfectly – opens easily with finger nail, shuts with a click and stays shut.
An unusual period ring.
