Antique 7.20 Carat Unheated Burmese Sapphire and Diamond Ring in Platinum

47,500.00

Description

An exceptional antique Burmese sapphire ring dating from the early 20th century, set in a handmade platinum mount with old cut diamonds.

At the centre of this handmade ring is a natural cushion cut sapphire weighing approximately 7.20 carats, with a rich vivid blue colour and lively flashes of lighter royal blue throughout.

The sapphire is secured in a substantial handmade four claw platinum setting and is flanked to each side by pairs of old European cut diamonds. These antique diamonds have an approximate combined weight of 1.40 carats and display the lively brilliance and character of early hand cut stones.  The diamonds balance the large sapphire very well on the finger,  complement the bright blue colour beautifully and catch the eye as the ring moves.

Unheated sapphires of Burmese origin are exceptionally scarce, particularly in larger sizes.  This rare 7.2ct cushion shaped Burma sapphire is accompanied by a GCS report (Report number 5786-1392) confirming it as being of Burmese origin and having no indications of heat treatment.

This is an outstanding ring and a very substantial example of a beautiful Burmese sapphire – available to view in person by prior appointment.

The ring is currently size L (UK) / 5.75 US and can be resized if required.
