Description
A pair of antique Etruscan Revival earrings, set with diamond in 15k gold.
These are a wonderful pair of earrings, crafted 15k gold and beautifully made. These earrings were made circa 1880, but are in the Etruscan style which dates from around the 7th century.
The Victorians were inspired by the skills and style of ancient civilisations, and began recreating pieces of jewellery discovered during archeological digs. Typical features of this style include the close granular beading, braided design and gold wirework – which are demonstrated beautifully in these earrings.
These are substantial in the ear, measuring 25mm in length by 15mm in width – each set with a small old cut diamond to the centre surrounded by a neatly engraved star. The earrings sit with a shepherds hook closure as illustrated in the attached images. The earrings have an overall weight of 6.2 grams.
