This is an exceptional example of a mixed metal T Bar chain – constructed with 18k gold bar links, joined together by a platinum knot design. Sometimes known as a fetter link, this piece is eye catching and very neat. This chain is thoughtfully constructed, with mixed metal accents to the centre of both the T-Bar and swivel clasp giving continuity to the pattern. A nice feature of this example is the swivel clasp which closes to the front, with a short drop from the T Bar.

Originally used as watch chains in the early 20th century, many T Bar necklaces can be short – however this chain has good wearable length and measures approximately 16.75″ excluding the T Bar attachment. It may have been carefully lengthened over the years, as a small number of 18k white gold links can be found to the back, added to blend seamlessly with the design. This chain has antique marks for 18k gold and dates from circa 1910.
